Manage That Curly Hair

Curly hair can be hard to manage sometimes. It gets frizzy, knotted  and just plain hard to manage. Here are some tips to help control your curly hair.
Curly hair is more porous than straight and wavy hair, so it absorbs hair product easier and can get really dirty if not washed properly

Tip 1: Find your hair type. There are different types of curly hair, and figuring out which type you have can be difficult, especially because a lot of people with curly hair have mixed types. For example, using the Curly Girl system, my hair on top is 3a and underneath is 3b. To find your hair type click here => http://www.naturallycurly.com/hair-types
Tip 2: Don't wash your hair everyday. Washing your hair everyday strips your hair from it's natural oils essential to keeping curly hair managable. If you do wash your hair everyday and are afraid that if you change our routine your hair will be too oily, don't be. Try washing your hair every-other-day. Your scalp will get used to not being washed so often and produce less oils, but still enough. Wash your hair at least twice a week, and the other times do a "Co-Wash" Washing your hair with shampoo actually can make it more dirty because the shampoo leaves a residue in your hair.           Tip 3: Don't comb curly hair when it is dry. This loosens curls and creates frizz and poofs instead of beautiful, soft looking curls. Use a wide-toothed comb when combing curly hair and only when wet, then let hair air dry.
Tip 4: If you wash your hair at night before you go to sleep braid it. Dry your hair either with a diffuser or a towel. If you use a towel, don't rub just pat and lightly squeez the moisture out. Only dry it until it is damp, not fully dry. Once damp, french braid your hair in a loose braid.           Tip 5: Many websites and magazines tell you not to use shampoos with silicones in them because they damage your hair. This however is untrue. Silicones can damage you hair, but the way people think. Silicones are in shampoos because they help condition your hair. Without silicones, your hair will get very dry and start to fall out and break over time. Silicones do not damage your hair as quickly. It can take many years for the effects of silicones to show, and even then it is most likely the affects of other products, not the silicones.

Now remember, you do not have to follow my tips, but they are however good tips to follow.
